Hey, I’m Joidon.

(pronounced Joy-done)

I started Couth & Co. after securing my first full-time job as a Digital UX Coordinator with the Green Bay Packers in the middle of a pandemic. Being a woman of color in a male-dominated industry, from a small town in Alabama, with both of my degrees from an HBCU, the odds have always been stacked against me. I know what it’s like being a student-athlete (yes I’m a ballHer), dedicating so much time to your craft, balancing school work and still trying to prepare for your future with jobs & internships. I want to help students, recent grads and even someone that feels stuck in their career at the moment, find their purpose and find their dream career!

I want you to save time by being strategic and working smarter than the competition. Listen, I’ve had a job since I was 16 and trust me, I’ve made hella mistakes along the way. I wish I would’ve had someone to view my resume, prepare for interviews with and even invite me to relevant conferences. There are so many cool jobs available right now, and I want to help you land one or even create your own. Most importantly, I have a heart for personal and professional development, so let’s get to work!

“C-O-U-T-H CAUSE YOU CAN’T SPELL IT NEITHER”

Developing couth comes from life experiences. Patience and time are the key requirements and once a young adult is equipped with these values, the possibilities are endless.

Culture.

Becoming cultured happens in various ways. It is more than just watching the news, especially now when diversity & inclusion is more vital than ever. Engaging in & understanding local and world events creates awareness and a bigger picture that helps one look outside of themselves. At some point, everyone should see the world as bigger than what is immediately around themselves. This is a key part of maturing and enriching one’s character.

Class.

Having class is synonymous with developing refinement. Class and culture kind of go together in the sense of gaining knowledge and clarity on different subjects and having the ability to speak on them in any setting. Life is our greatest teacher and the more we engage, the more we learn. Being able to work in any setting (chameleon-like) makes you likeable and very diverse.

Respect.

The most important piece in developing couth is the framework of respect, a lost art in the workplace today. Respecting others, their opinions, beliefs and being open to feedback creates a positive work environment. Speaking politely, positive body language and engaging in difficult conversations rather than avoiding is vital in enriching one’s character.
